Outings

We hold at least two outings a year. Outings have included visits to local Theatres, and other places of interest.

We have booked tickets for two Open Air shows this Summer:

Saturday 26th July at 3pm at The Bothy, Stephens House N3

Sense and Sensibility
- with this outdoor production in the Bothy Gardens Elinor Dashwood has a lot of good Sense. Her sister Marianne Dashwood has an excess of Sensibility. Together they make a snappy title for Jane Austen’s classic novel of scandals, scoundrels and severely sprained ankles. This funny, fast-paced and faithful adaptation from the critically-acclaimed Pantaloons Theatre Company features live music, audience interaction, romance and heartbreak.
We have booked 15 tickets at £18 each for this event.

Saturday 6th September at 2.15pm at Regents Park Open Air Theatre

Brigadoon
Crash landed in the Highlands of Scotland, WW2 fighter pilots Tommy and Jeff are searching for a way home, whilst just beyond the hills, sisters Fiona and Jean are preparing for a wedding. Over the course of one chance day in the dreamlike village of Brigadoon, their stories entwine. But can love endure in this enchanting place where everything is not quite as it seems? Not seen in London for over 35 years, Brigadoon features soaring songs including ‘Almost Like Being in Love’, ‘Waitin’ for My Dearie’ and ‘The Heather on the Hill’. In a new adaptation by leading Scottish playwright Rona Munro (The James Plays (Evening Standard Award), Frankenstein), this revival of a theatrical classic is directed and choreographed by Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie (Jesus Christ Superstar) in his first production as Artistic Director of Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

We have managed to book 20 seats at £15 per person for a special Audio Described production which includes a Touch Tour and a chance to meet the performers.

If you would like to come to either of these events, please email me, Nigel at nigel.v@sky.com and I will send further details and payment information.

Or come to our meeting on 1st July at St Mary’s Church Hall and you will be able to pay by card, cash or cheque. We may be able organise free transport from St Mary’s to both of these venues.
============================================================

Our Spring Outing this year was on Wednesday 21st May and was a Canal Boat Trip up the River Lee including a Fish and Chip Lunch.
Our Coach then took us to Van Haag Garden Centre in Amwell where we had a delicious tea.
